Applications menu on the left – customizable
|
|
On the left hand side of your screen, while you are logged onto Facebook, you will always see the “Applications” menu. It looks like this (see image below), unless you have edited it already to look different:

Facebook makes it easy for you to choose and pick exactly what applications you want to show up in this area. This area is, therefore, totally customizable. The applications which show up by default are the ones which introduce you to this cool feature. And what more exciting than creating your own online album for friends can be the very first one? The “Photos” application does just that. The “Groups”, “Events” and “Marketplace” applications are just as exciting. Let us take a closer look at a couple of these applications which appear by default.
Creating an Album, sharing photos with friends and viewing friends’ albums
The “Photos” application does just these – you can create your own album to share your photos with friends, as well as view other’s shared photos. When you click the “Photos” link, you will see a screen which lists the albums of your Facebook friends. It will also have a button, “Add New Photos”. If you want to create your own album, just click on that. You will see the following screen, as seen in the image below:

The cool feature about Facebook Photos application, that sets it apart from the rest, is that you can upload photos from your cell phone directly to Facebook. In the screen image above, note that link “Mobile Photos” just to the right of “Create Album”. If you click on it, it will show you an email address where you need to send your first photo from your mobile phone. In response, you will receive a text message with a code in it. Just enter the code in Facebook and your cell phone is linked to your account! You can keep on sending photos to your Facebook album from your mobile phone now.

Browsing the Marketplace
The “Marketplace” application lets you buy, sell, post ads, list and browse other marketplace things like real estate, jobs, automobiles, etc. You must be connected to at least one network to be able to use this feature, as the Marketplace application uses the networks you are in, to display the listings from (and to show your listing too).
