How to Sign Up on Facebook

- Go to www.facebook.com. The home page will be displayed. Click on the Sign Up button.
- In the next screen, provide your Full Name in the “Full Name” text box. Select the appropriate entry from the “I am” list. Note that there is a “none of the above” choice in case the other choices do not describe you correctly.
- Provide your valid work email address in the Email text box. If you do not wish to use your work email address, you can provide any other email address which you regularly use.
- Provide a password of your choice – one that you will easily remember, but one that others will not be able to guess. Pick your birth date from the “Birthday” date selector.
- Enter the correct text as shown by the captcha. Enter both words separated by a space. If you find it difficult to read the captcha, you can click on the “Try another” link to be shown a new image.

- Read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, available as links below the captcha “Security Check” box. Check the “I have read and agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy” checkbox and click on “Sign Up Now” button.
- In the next screen, you will be shown a message which requests you to confirm your email address. Check the email account you provided in step 3 above. You should receive an email from register@facebook.com, with subject line “Facebook Registration Confirmation”. It can take some time for this email to arrive, depending on network traffic and load on the email server. If your email server has an active spam or junk email filter, the email may be filtered into the spam folder, depending on the settings. Therefore, if you do not receive the email within half an hour, please check the spam folder as well.
- Follow the instruction in the registration email. Once you click on the registration link contained in the email, you will see the welcome message screen (see image to the right).
- The subsequent steps, as suggested by the welcome message, should be completed at this time. Alternatively, using the features available and described below may also be used at convenience.
